European Central Banking Workshop
February 2nd and 3rd, 2017
The IES will be hosting a workshop pertaining to the role of central banking in a contemporary context. Repercussions stemming from the 2007 sovereign debt crisis and subsequent financial instability have led central banks to a reconfiguration of their role. Our workshop hopes to produce new insights with respect to the new role of central banking from an interdisciplinary perspective, emphasizing current macroeconomic conditions, variance in bank response, and the implications of new banking policies on central bank independence and accountability.
The workshop is part of the activities of a collaborative project Canada-Europe Transatlantic Dialogue (CETD) which is funded by SSHRC (https://labs.carleton.ca/canadaeurope/).
