Trans-national Governance and Policy-making in the Baltic Sea Region and Beyond
Organized by the IES Director Kurt Huebner and the former IES DAAD Professor Stefan Gaenzle (German Development Institute), the workshop will take place at UBC on September 29, 2008. A number of academics from Canada, US and Europe will be discussing the role of the Baltic Sea Region in international politics and in particular European politics. The aim of the workshop is to “understand the broader question of how these [Baltic Sea and European Union] institutions and policies impact on the Baltic Sea region and whether or not they may serve as model for other European or neighbouring regions which share similar features such as for instance the Black Sea or the Arctic Sea.”
