Francesco Duina (Ph.D. Harvard) is Professor and Head of Sociology at UBC, and a Visiting Professor at the Copenhagen Business School (Denmark). His research focuses mainly on economic sociology and, in particular, on institutionalist accounts of regional integration projects (such as the European Union, NAFTA, and Mercosur) and the future of nation states in those projects.
Professor Duina is the author of several books, including The Social Construction of Free Trade: The EU, NAFTA, and Mercosur (Princeton University Press 2006) and Institutions and the Economy (Polity Press 2011). He has published articles in New Political Economy, Economy and Society, Review of International Political Economy, Journal of European Public Policy, Journal of European Integration, and many other journals. He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of European Public Policy and Economy and Society.
