Prof. Biuković (Ph.D. UBC) received an LL.B degree from the Faculty of Law in Belgrade in 1986 then practiced international commercial and investment law in her native Yugoslavia for several years. In 1994 she moved to Hungary as a George Soros scholar to pursue graduate studies at the Central European University in Budapest. After obtaining an LL.M. in International Business Law, she moved to Vancouver, Canada where she received an LL.M. (1995) and Ph.D. (2000) from the Faculty of Law at UBC. Research in her graduate degrees was concentrated on international trade law and international dispute resolution. In 2000-01 she held a Postdoctoral Fellowship with the Institute for European Studies of UBC. She developed and teaches a seminar on External Relations of the European Union for the Institute. She also teaches Contracts and the Institute’s course on European Union Law. At present, her research interests are focused on international trade dispute resolution, Internet Law and the process of enlargement of the European Union. Professor Biuković is the Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies Early Career Scholar for 2004-2005 and recently received the European Commission’s grant “Jean Monnet Module” for developing her External Relations of EU seminar.
