Thorfinn Stainforth completed his MA in European Studies in 2008. While at the IES, Thorfinn worked as a research assistant for Kurt Hübner, and in  the summer of 2007 he interned at the European Parliament. Prior to his time at the IES, Thorfinn completed a BA (Honours) in History at the University of King’s College in 2004. He wrote his undergraduate honours thesis on the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the origins of the First World War. After graduating  with the BA he taught in the Republic of Korea.

His primary research interests include nationalism, identity formation, monetary politics, and international relations.
